DOCTOR'S POND #1: May 1985 to June 1985
Rehearse in The London Road Inn, Calne and write original material. Kev Barber is the main singer/songwriter for the band. Steve comes up with the name DOCTOR'S POND which nobody else seems to like but is used anyway.

Rehearsals continue in The London Road Inn and Shelly Saw joins as backing vocalist.

THE UNGRATEFUL DEAD: June 1985 to July 1985
Formed to play at the "Mardenbeat Summer Fun" party. Neither Mike Humphreys or Vance Provins had been in a band before and Steve hadn't played a gig for over two years! Tim Goodwin, the drummer, joined them on-stage and it was the first time the rest of the band had ever met him!

DOCTOR'S POND #3: July 1985 to August 1985
American drummer Tim Goodwin, who is a military cop at Greenham Common, joins the band and Mike Baggs is sacked. Rehearsals move to Kev Barber's garage.

BASTARD SQUAD: August 1985
Thrown together the night before their only gig. The bassist was recruited in the pub and given a tape of songs the next morning. They turned up, uninvited to play a support slot at a gig at The White Hart, Calne on August 3rd.

Played an impromptu gig at The White Hart, Calne on August 3rd, when it looked like BASTARD SQUAD vocalist Mike Humphreys wasn't going to turn up. Nobody was more surprised than band members Dave Young and Shelly Saw who were standing at the bar when "their" band started playing...

THE MYSTERY GIRLS: August 1985
A line-up and name change and BASTARD SQUAD become THE MYSTERY GIRLS in a cheap attempt to pull in the punters by giving the impression there might be females in the band. They play one gig before evolving once again.

The band continue to rehearse in the garage. Shelly Saw leaves and Steve is finally persuaded to change the name by the rest of the band.

Rejoicing under a new name the band manage to play two gigs before splitting "due to musical differences" Mike Humphreys replaces Kev Barber and the band continue as THE CHAOS BROTHERS.

THE DOCTOR'S POND #1: x
With the original DOCTOR'S POND rejecting the name in favour of NIGHTSHIFT Steve decided to keep it alive and put another band together called THE DOCTOR'S POND. They play their first gig at Roundway Down on August 31st (with NIGHTSHIFT)

Another name change for Steve and Mike, but this one would stick. The line-up would change when Tim returned to the USA.

THE TRYP/THE DOCTOR'S POND #2: September 1985 to January 1986
Steve and Rod guested with THE TRYP when they played their one and only Calne gig, joining in on their classic "Purple Dreams & Tambourines". Rod, Paul and Steve each wrote and recorded a song titled "The Doctor's Pond" but only Steve's was ever played live by the band. Simon House guested on one song.

THE REACTION had a gig at Chippenham Neelde Hall on February 22nd and as their bassist was ill they asked Steve to fill in at a day's notice. Names of the others members are unknown other than Nick Galloway played drums and somebody called Nigel played guitar.

THE NEW MEXICANS #1: February 1986 to March 1986
THE NEW MEXICANS were formed by Steve Lines and Mark Angell as a ruse to get to know the female backing singers of a local band better. Louise Allen and Diane Doddington were invited to join the band. They rehearsed and recorded some material but due to lack of interest from Mark and Diane, Steve and Louise decided to form their own band.
